Overhead Tent
private space in an open plan
This is a project from my time at Steelcase. This piece is from The Work Tent Collection, tensile structures to be used as simple space division in the office.

Open plan space division.
Work environments where everyone shares the same floor and an open space. These areas can be subtly divided with airy walls or simple screens to create separation.
Tensile construction.
This type of structure is stabilized by tension creating light and strong architectural pieces that can be both temporary or permanent fixtures. You can find them in cities, camping trips and eventually could be pop up habitats on different planets.
Creating form with tension.
In order to achieve the parabolic shape, I experimented with some spring steel and aircraft cable.
Overhead Tent
Provides a dynamic and airy layer of privacy to social and collaborative spaces in the open plan. Architecture-inspired, its soft and light form adds visual interest to any space while providing comfort and shielding allowing people to feel a sense of privacy while meeting or socializing in the open.
