myQ Pet Portal
A smart-door for your pet. (Chamberlain Group)
This smart door began as my team’s intern project in 2018. The door is app enabled; allowing pet owners to let out their best friends out while they are not home. The product has been released to the public and is available on the market.
Meet the Team.
This is the team of interns who made Pet Portal possible. The team consisted of two industrial designers, two UX/UI designers, a computer science major and an electrical engineer. This is also when I still grew out my hair.
Awards and Press.
Pet Portal won the Best of Innovation award at CES in February of 2021. The product has also received recognition from multiple press outlets.
Initial Research.
Ideation.
We had a few ideas concerning how to open a door remotely. Some of which included; a linear actuator, a small wheel, or a hidden pet door.
Model Making.
We created some initial models made of mdf and our final presentation prototype.
The App.
This is the app concept the team developed during the internship at Chamberlain.
The official app for the product is now part of the existing myQ app. Several assets and features were still used from our initial prototype.
