Terra
Eternal Garden
Reimagined indoor greenhouse made for ancestral stories and teachings. An exploration of objects and how they become eternal.

The memories that create an heirloom.
What makes an heirloom? An heirloom is an object found in a modern home that was passed down and may or may not have become obsolete, but we cannot seem to get rid of them. Why?
Objects that were cherished by loved ones or are imbedded in our childhood memories have the potential to become heirlooms.
Heirlooms embody utility, memory, quality, and meaning. Terra will allow generations to share an eternal garden and connect with nature and ancestors.
Growing from a seed.
Whether we are helping a grandparent in their garden or learning to cook with a parent, these skills use tools that one can carry the rest of their life.
Concept Development.
We were inspired by traditional furniture, particularly large china cabinets who’s use is becoming less and less needed.
Tranquility in a post-pandemic, modern life.
As we move towards a life where our connection with nature become more and more distant, how far will we go towards a dystopian future? How will we teach our children about the environment if we ourselves are never part of it?
How it works.
This cabinet is an enclosed habitat that has simple ventilation and drainage systems. Grow-lights are found throughout to ensure the crops are healthy.
Terra
The piece resembles a large lantern with frosted glass that only allows the viewer a hint of the life inside. Opening it is like entering another world where stories can be shared and memories can be formed.
